Hellcats = Role Recast
May 21st, 2010 by Jess

Looks like the role will be recast, Ben looks like he was only in the pilot.

Most recently, the football coach role on the CW’s new cheerleading drama Hellcats also is being recast, and the character may be retooled as well. Ben Browder played the role in the pilot.

CW picks up ‘Nikita,’ ‘Hellcats,’ ‘Life,’ ‘OTH’
May 18th, 2010 by Jess

The CW has renewed both its bubble shows — “Life Unexpected” and “One Tree Hill” — while picking up two new series for next season, “Hellcats” and “Nikita.”"Nikita” will give the network its first non-supernatural action-drama. The Warner Bros/Wonderland series stars martial arts expert Maggie Q as an assassin who goes rogue. “Hellcats” is about a college cheerleading squad at a Southern university, and is from Bonanza/Warner Bros./CBS TV.

Though rumors had started last week that both veteran soap “OTH” and critically well-liked freshman drama “Unexpected” might get another round, the move is still a bit surprising, particularly in the case of “Unexpected,” which has garnered modest ratings. This will mark the eighth season for “OTH.”

Ben Browder to star in new Web series
May 18th, 2010 by Jess

Former Stargate SG-1 and Farscape star Ben Browder is slated to star in a new “noir” Web series entitled Naught for Hire.

Browder played Colonel Cameron Mitchell on SG-1.  In the new series, he’ll play down on his luck private detective Nick Naught.

The show will have the feel of old school style detective stories, and will consist of 13 six-minute episodes.  The show is set about 20 years from now in a world where humans and artificial intelligence objects such as cars and answering machines live at peace with one another.

The Web-based series  will also star Juliet Landau, who played Drusilla in both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off, Angel.

Naught for Hire goes into production this summer and is planned to premiere online in December. Check out the official Web site at NaughtForHire.com, and stay tuned to GateWorld for more on Naught For Hire as info becomes available!
